Profit
Say it like this
What is left over after you pay for everything it took to make the thing.
For the grown-up
Profit is revenue minus cost. It is the part children skip straight past, because a lemonade stand that took four dollars of lemons to earn five dollars feels like five dollars until somebody does the subtraction out loud.
The easy mistake
Careful here. Money coming in is not profit. Doing that subtraction out loud once, with real numbers from a real lemonade stand, teaches more than any definition.
