Value is what something is worth to a particular person in a particular moment. It is not a property of the object. Two people can look at the same item and be entirely right about wildly different numbers.

The easy mistake

Careful here. Value comes before money in the order of ideas. A child who learns money first tends to treat money as the thing that is valuable, which makes prices, saving and investing much harder to explain later.
