First Ten Internet Words
Internet, website, server, browser, search engine and five more, each with the crayon-level meaning on the back.

- 10 minutes to make, then however long they last
- You Need
- A printer, scissors, and somewhere to lose half of them.
What to do
- Print the page and cut along the lines. The crayon-level meaning is on the reverse of each word.
- Lay them word-side up and ask them to sort into words they know and words they do not.
- Take the ones they do not know and read only the back.
- Shuffle everything and go again a few days later. That gap is doing the work.

- Which two of these are most similar? Why?
- Which one is the odd one out?
- Can you explain one of these to somebody younger than you?
- Which word sounded hardest before you turned it over?
For the grown-up
The few-days gap in step four is not filler. Spacing the second pass is the cheapest thing you can do to make any of this stick, and it costs you nothing but remembering.
