Draw What You Think

Draw Two Helpers and One Toolbox

Give two helpers the same job, then change what each one can see and use. Draw what happens next.

Ages
4 to 10
Time
10 to 20 minutes
You Need
Paper and crayons. A cardboard toolbox is welcome but not required.

What to do

  1. Draw two helpers who know exactly the same things.
  2. Give them one job, such as fixing a chair, planting a seed, or finding a missing sock.
  3. Draw the instructions, tools, and keys beside Helper One.
  4. Draw an empty room beside Helper Two.
  5. Add one way Helper One checks the finished job.

Ask afterward

  • Which helper could finish the job?
  • What did the toolbox change?
  • What mistake could Helper One make?
  • How would you check the result?

For the grown-up

The drawing separates reasoning from capability. Both helpers know the answer. Only one has the context, tools, permission, and feedback required to turn the answer into checked work.
